Howard L. Lewis
Chairman, CEO and Founder
Howard L. Lewis is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Family Heritage Life Insurance Company of America. Mr. Lewis began his professional career in the financial services industry with Central Trust Company, a dominant banking concern headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following his time with Central Trust Company, he served in roles of increasing responsibility at Picker International Corporation, Progressive Insurance Company, and Capitol American Life Insurance Company, where he was named President of Capitol Consumer Marketing in 1987.
In 1989, Mr. Lewis founded Family Heritage Life Insurance Company of America on the principles of service and integrity with the fundamental premise that those that help build the company should have the opportunity to become owners of the company. Family Heritage has grown at a compounded rate exceeding thirty percent annually since its inception and is positioned for continued growth by Mr. Lewis’s commitment to expanding the company’s territory, broadening its product portfolio and attracting new talent to its home office operation.
Mr. Lewis completed his undergraduate work at the University of Kentucky and holds an MBA from Xavier University.

Ken Matson
President, Family Heritage Marketing Corporation
As President of the direct sales division of Family Heritage, Ken Matson is committed to continued national sales growth. He has spent his entire career with Family Heritage building people as they have helped build Family Heritage. He began as a Sales Agent in 1991 and subsequently ran sales administration until 1996 when he was appointed Chief of Staff. Mr. Matson was promoted to senior leadership as a Vice President in 2001 where he effectively led the Eastern Sales Division of FHMC. In 2006 Mr. Matson became President of the Family Heritage Marketing Corporation.
Mr. Matson first became connected to Family Heritage as multi-year intern with its parent company, The Southwestern Company while in college. He completed his undergraduate work in psychology with a management minor from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.

Jeffrey S. Morris
Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary
Jeff Morris joined Family Heritage as the company’s first in-house actuary in 2001 and was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary in 2002. Prior to joining the management team at Family Heritage, he held a variety of actuarial positions including most recently with Great American Financial Resources in Cincinnati, OH and Capitol American in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a specialist in the design, pricing and valuation of supplemental insurance products and is one of the industry’s leading experts on return of premium benefits. Mr. Morris is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow in the Life Office Management Association.
Mr. Morris completed his undergraduate work at Slippery Rock University and earned his Master’s Degree in Mathematical Studies from the University of Tennessee.

Edward J. Rocheck
Senior Vice President, Chief Administration Officer
Mr. Rocheck began his career in public accounting with Marwick Mitchell & Co. and, in 1983, joined Capitol American as Director of Accounting. Mr. Rocheck held various roles with Capitol American, including Vice President, Marketing-Business Marketing Division. Mr. Rocheck joined Family Heritage in 1993, where his early duties included product expansion, state admissions, and working with the company’s consulting actuary to manage the actuarial aspects of the company. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Administration and oversees Underwriting, Claims, Customer Service, Agent Licensing and Information Systems.
Mr. Rocheck holds a B.S. in Accounting from Myers University. He serves on the Board and is the former Chairman of Wigs for Kids.

Douglas B. Kelly
Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
Mr. Kelly first entered the financial services industry when he joined Capitol American Life Insurance Company as Product Manager, ultimately serving as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. Following his tenure with Capitol American, Mr. Kelly founded Pelorus Group, Inc., a management consulting firm focused on corporate and business unit strategy. He joined Family Heritage in May of 2005 as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Prior to joining Capitol American, Mr. Kelly served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1982 where he earned the Navy Commendation Medal and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was also a consultant with McKinsey and Company. Mr. Kelly graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, and received his MBA from the University of Michigan.

Ronald L. Sarosy
Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Sarosy began his career at Peat Marwick where he was promoted to senior accountant. Mr. Sarosy then joined Capitol American Life Insurance Company as the Manager of Financial Analysis, ultimately serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Following his tenure at Capitol American, Mr. Sarosy served in executive level roles at McDonald & Company, CSM Industries Inc., Newmarket Partners, LLC and Oatey Co. before assuming his current role at Family Heritage.
Mr. Sarosy holds a BBA in Accounting from Cleveland State University.

Henry G. Grendell
Vice President, General Counsel
Mr. Grendell began his legal career serving as the judicial law clerk of the Lake County Court of Common Pleas. Following the completion of his clerkship, Mr. Grendell joined Gallagher, Sharp, Fulton & Norman, where his practice focused on insurance-related issues. In 1998, he joined the litigation department at Calfee, Halter & Griswold, LLP, and in January 2005, Mr. Grendell joined Family Heritage as its first General Counsel.
Mr. Grendell earned his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and his J.D. from Cleveland State University. He is a member of the Cleveland, Ohio and American Bar Associations, along with the Association of Corporate Counsel.
